Londra Fleming’s path into nursing began with a deeply personal example. Watching nurses care for her seriously ill grandmother showed her the difference a healthcare professional could make not only for a patient, but for an entire family.

Over the next 32 years, Londra found infusion uniquely suited to what she valued about nursing. It combines technical precision and attentiveness with something equally important to her: the opportunity to know patients over time.

After several years of hands-on experience in infusion care, Londra felt ready to take on a new perspective.

“I felt ready to grow beyond the day-to-day patient care I'd mastered and take on a broader view of the infusion space.”

Moving into leadership allowed her to understand the operational and business dimensions of care while continuing to draw on decades of firsthand clinical knowledge. She now sees both the decisions occurring behind the scenes and how those decisions ultimately affect the patient sitting in the chair.

Londra’s perspective on women in leadership is shaped less by the obstacles she has faced and more by the importance of trusting your skills, advocating for yourself and finding the right opportunities. One of the most important lessons of her journey has been learning to trust her own abilities.

“Trust that your results will speak for themselves, and don't be afraid to advocate for yourself along the way.”

Being part of an organization where she could be judged by her contribution and results allowed her expertise to speak for itself.

Her advice to other women reflects that experience: stand strong, trust your skills and judgment, advocate for yourself and recognize the importance of surrounding yourself with people who see the value you bring.

For Londra, patient-centered infusion is rooted in consistency.

“To me, patient-centered infusion care means consistency — patients seeing familiar faces who know their history, their preferences, and what makes them comfortable, rather than starting over with someone new each visit.”

That continuity helps patients feel more comfortable and builds trust over repeated treatments. She also believes the extended time involved in infusion creates an important opportunity for education. Patients can ask questions, better understand their therapy and become more active participants in their care.

Looking ahead, Londra wants infusion spaces to feel less clinical and more comfortable. Her perspective after three decades is clear: technical excellence and human connection do not compete with one another. Great infusion care requires both.
