Lauren Pumphrey’s path into healthcare began by watching another woman help providers navigate care and connect patients with the resources they needed. That experience showed her what a career centered on helping others could look like.

“I loved the idea of building a career where helping people is at the center of what we do. We get to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives and call that our job—I feel incredibly lucky to have that kind of purpose in my work every day.”

A college field ride with longtime friend and mentor Melissa Wheeler became pivotal. Melissa recognized potential in Lauren, created a junior representative opportunity for her and invested in her development.

That experience changed the trajectory of Lauren’s career—and taught her early what can happen when one woman chooses to open a door for another.

As Lauren moved into leadership and eventually became a founder, patient impact remained central. She describes her motivation as making difficult healthcare experiences easier for patients and families.

“I was inspired by the opportunity to build something that makes that experience a little easier—to remove barriers, lighten the load, and ensure patients receive the quality of care they deserve.”

She has developed a particular passion for complex and rare diseases, where patients can spend significant time searching for answers before receiving an accurate diagnosis.

Lauren is proud of work that raises awareness and helps shorten that journey. For her, the reward becomes tangible when she meets patients and hears firsthand about the care her team provided.

“When I’m lucky enough to meet our patients and hear firsthand that our team made their experience a little easier or provided exceptional care, it never gets old.”

Lauren has also witnessed the extraordinary lengths families may go to when treatment is inaccessible. One mother whose son required off-label IVIG had been paying for therapy herself, refinancing her home and working two jobs in the process. Lauren’s team was able to help the family secure insurance coverage.

Experiences like that reinforce why reimbursement and access work cannot be dismissed as administrative complexity. For the family on the other side, the consequences can be life-changing.

Melissa Wheeler is not the only woman Lauren credits with influencing her journey. She also points to CFO Robin Johnson and the mentorship, encouragement and belief she has received from women throughout her career.

Those experiences now affect the kind of leader Lauren wants to be. She believes empathy can be a strength when paired with confidence and conviction. Her advice to other women is straightforward:

“The only limits on your life are the ones you set for yourself. Don’t be afraid to take up space, trust your instincts, and pursue opportunities before you feel completely ready.”

For Lauren, paying mentorship forward means more than encouraging another woman. It means recognizing potential, creating an opportunity and giving someone room to discover what she is capable of achieving.
